Gabriel Gonzales, DO, is a board-certified gastroenterologist with deep Texas roots, having spent much of his upbringing in Clyde. Initially drawn to bioengineering and mathematics, he found his calling in medicine through early hands-on experiences as a patient transporter and emergency medical technician.

Doctor Gonzales earned his undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Arlington and his medical degree from The University of North Texas Health Science Center. He completed his residency and fellowship training in Fort Worth, rotating through Medical City Fort Worth, John Peter Smith Hospital, Baylor All Saints and The University of North Texas Health Science Center.

He has a special interest in inflammatory bowel diseases, particularly Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, as well as liver disease. He takes a comprehensive, patient-centered approach that emphasizes education, shared decision-making and individualized treatment plans. His goal is to align care with each patient’s medical needs, preferences and social context.

Outside of his practice, Dr. Gonzales enjoys woodworking, fixing up cars, gardening and just about anything that gets him outdoors— hiking, backpacking or cycling. He shares these adventures (and the occasional home project) with his wife, Ally Goyer, DO, a Hospitalist at GRMC.

Amy Evans, FNP, brings extensive healthcare experience across ICU, emergency care, clinical informatics, hospice and specialty care. She began her nursing career in 2009 as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) after completing her certification at Tyler County Hospital School of Vocational Nursing in Woodville, Texas. She went on to earn an Associate Degree in Nursing from Angelina College, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The University of Texas at Arlington, and a Master of Science in Nursing with Family Nurse Practitioner certification from Texas Woman’s University.

As part of GRMG Gastroenterology Associates, Amy provides patient-centered care for individuals with digestive health concerns. She understands the impact gastrointestinal symptoms and conditions can have on everyday life and takes the time to listen, answer questions and help patients better understand their health and treatment options.

Amy will also provide screening colonoscopy services, helping patients take an important preventive step toward the early detection and prevention of colorectal cancer. She is committed to making the screening process approachable and helping patients understand when and why colorectal cancer screening is recommended.

Amy’s approach to care emphasizes education, communication and collaboration. Her diverse clinical background gives her a broad perspective when caring for patients with complex health needs, and she works closely with patients and the gastroenterology team to provide coordinated, individualized care.

Amy enjoys building relationships with her patients and meeting them where they are in their healthcare journey. She believes patients should feel heard, informed and involved in decisions about their care and finds it especially rewarding to help patients take an active role in improving their health and quality of life.
